Former President Barack Obama is set to join Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger at her Virginia Votes Rally on Nov. 1 at Chartway Arena in Norfolk.
The rally comes just days before Election Day and marks Obama’s first campaign appearance in Hampton Roads in more than 13 years. In a recent endorsement video, Obama praised Spanberger, saying, “As Governor, Abigail will stand up for Virginia families. She’ll work to build an economy that works for everyone.”
According to a Christopher Newport University survey conducted from Oct. 21 to 23 among 803 registered Virginia voters, Spanberger currently leads Republican candidate Winsome Earle-Sears by seven points, 50% to 43%, with 6% undecided.
The Spanberger campaign hopes this rally will energize voters and boost turnout as the race enters its final stretch.
The event is scheduled to run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the opening time still to be announced. For those interested, RSVP details are posted on the campaign’s official website here.
