The Barry Arts Museum will present “Bubble Fest,” the 5th annual Public Arts Festival on Nov. 7 and 8 outside of the museum at ODU.
Each year, ODU partners with an outside artist or company to produce a captivating artistic environment, bringing the community together for a special celebration of the university and its culture. The artists range from all over the world, with this year’s exhibit being based out of Sydney, Australia.
The festival will feature an immersive exhibit filled with bubbles made possible by Atelier Sisu, a light and sound installation led by artists Renzo B. Larriviere and Zara Pasfield.
In addition to the bubble installation, the festival will have a “Bubblecade,” a foam and fizz bar, food trucks, small business vendors, a live performance area, and a glass blowing exhibit put on by the Chrysler Museum.
ODU puts on their annual Public Arts Festival each year to connect with the local community, while also showcasing the diverse talent and research at ODU.
While this specific event will focus on bubbles, the festival’s theme changes each year. Last year, the theme was “Pneuhaus,” centered around biology and physics. The year before that, the theme was “Fantastic Planet,” which featured out-of-this-world creatures, such as giant inflatable figures at the center of the event.
This year’s theme of “Bubble Fest” aims to keep up with the Public Arts Festival’s tradition of showing the intersectionality of art and science, while also creating an immersive and interactive environment for attendees.
The event will be held outside of the Barry Arts Museum on Nov. 7- from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is completely free to the public, encouraging all to attend and witness the magic of public art.
