Amid the flurry of final art showcases throughout the spring semester, there will be a double exhibition of student works on display at the Hixon Student Gallery from Apr. 1-5.
Students Kylei Walker and Marissa Siock have created “Canon” and “Through the Rhythm of Time,” respectively.
“Canon” includes works that explore classic art through a contemporary lens and exploring how social media has changed the landscape of art canon, the timeline of conventionally skilled and famous artists.
“So who are the masters now? No one and everyone,” writes Walker.
Siock’s exhibition, “Through the Rhythm of Time” explores the relationship between music and art. Siock highlights how her art is inspired by music, and how she felt “heavily inspired by the powerful influence music has on visual art by evoking emotions, memories, and experiences.” Siock has also created a playlist for the show, which is meant to be listened to in order.
“Canon” and “Through the Rhythm of Time” will have their opening receptions on Apr. 3 from 7-9 p.m. and will only be on display until Apr. 5, so there is only a short time students can come see these exhibits.
