Old Dominion Men’s Basketball team debuted their season with a victory against Navy with a score of 67-44 Tuesday night. The season opener took place at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Fans and students filled the stadium with optimism for a promising basketball season. In the first meeting for these two programs since 1982, the Monarchs looked sharp.
Team captain and senior, Ahmad Caver, 4, carried the team with 24 points, five rebounds and three assist. B.J. Stith who is also a team captain had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. The Monarchs never trailed in their win against Navy, going into halftime the Monarchs were up 15 points. By the end of the second half, the Monarchs dominated Navy in all areas of the game.
Improving to 7-2 against Navy, the Monarchs next home game will be against Northern Iowa Friday, Nov. 19.
